Character Sketches

Yesterday’s mini-lesson on Teachers Write was by Ruth Mcnally Barshaw, author of the Ellie McDoodle series who discussed art literacy and how drawing can improve writing. She shared some sketches and how drawing has helped her writing.

One suggested activity from the lesson was to draw a character and add callouts about them. This morning I drew Sadie and Chance and tried to distill their personalities. This was the result.

In other writing news, I finally finished the new first chapter in Chance and Sadie’s story. That’s a good feeling.
