My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ace and Bub, the flying beaver brothers, wake up to find a volcano has sprung up on Beaver Island over night. Taking their hang glider to investigate, the two beavers end up crashing and being dragged into a machine chopping trees, a machine with no off switch.

This unpleasant near encounter with being shredded is Ace and Bub’s first contact with the mackerels that are running operations to create and sell Fish Stix. These green rods are made from the core of pine trees in what the fish claim are environmentally sound practices. A big beaver named Bruce is endorsing Fish Stix and his perks from this fishy business look awfully tempting…

The environmental theme is well played in this goofy comic I think my students will enjoy. It points out problems without being too didactic. I was especially amused by Bob and Bob, the two penguins. I plan on sharing it with fans of Lunch Lady.
