A year ago yesterday I graduated from library school.
I was blessed to have found employment as a half-time library media specialist a few weeks prior to graduation. I interviewed right before Thanksgiving and by early December knew the district I would be at if not the school.
I started my job in the library that month, making the two hour trip for a district library meeting, required paperwork, and to observe some library lessons as well. I had a chance to ask some questions of the district librarians and my principal. I officially started on January 3 having moved into my district only the day before.
The past year has been amazing. I am thankful for all the people I’ve learned from in person and online. Through them I’ve discovered a wealth of resources. I know I have a lot more growing to do as a librarian and couldn’t hope to do so alone.
In celebration of my first year as a librarian, I’d like to run a series of guest posts in January geared toward starting librarians (where I definitely still categorize myself). Come and share resources, advice, stories and more! Please leave a comment or send me a message if you are interested!
