Using the Picture Book Month Calendar, I am going to post five favorite picture books of mine for each day of November. Today’s theme is bedtime stories.
The only thing better at bedtime than stories are songs and stories. As a camp counselor, I loved telling stories or reading them during flashlight time at camp. There was a New Year’s Eve where I told stories until midnight, had to stop for the countdown and then resume telling the story to finish it.
These are picture books about bedtimes that I enjoy. Several fit the theme of not wanting to go to bed or not being able to sleep. Others are more gentle in nature. What are you favorite bedtime books?
1. Baby Badger’s Wonderful Night by Karen Saunders.
2. No Sleep for the Sheep by Karen Beaumont
4. Bedtime for Bear by Brett Helquist
5. Tell Me the Day Backwards by Albert Lamb.
One can’t mention bedtime books without given a moment to Margaret Wise Brown’s Goodnight, Moon. This leads to Michael Rex’s Goodnight, Goon and a host of other spin-offs. One of my favorites is Goodnight Forest Moon, which takes a Star Wars twist on things.
