Picture Book Month: Monsters

Using the Picture Book Month Calendar, I am going to post five favorite picture books of mine for each day of November. Today’s theme is monsters.

1. Goodnight Goon by Michael Rex is a delightful parody of Goodnight Moon. You can read this book online and help out others in need of books at We Give Books.

2. I Need My Monster by Amanda Noll is the story of a boy who can’t go to sleep without his monster Gabe under the bed. Substitute monsters will not do!

3. Welcome to Monster Town by Ryan Heshka is filled with monsters going about their daily business.

4. Do Not Build a Frankenstein by Neil Numberman is one boy’s account of why building a monster may not be such a great idea.

5. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendack is the classic monster story with its wild rumpus on a faraway island.
